Andrés Cortés is an architect, construction manager and one of the founders of Agencie Group. Born to a family of builders in Bogotá Colombia, Andrés immigrated to the United States in 1984. He studied architecture at the University of Michigan, and obtained a Master of Architecture at Columbia University where he taught under distinguished professor of architecture Kenneth Frampton.
Andrés established Agencie in 2005, his current and recent work includes the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center and Library and several design-build projects in New York and Florida. As an architect and builder, Andrés has led design-build collaborations with select clients including European Vogue Editor Hamish Bowles, film director Darren Aronofsky and architecture critic Paul Goldberger. Andrés’ design sensibilities are grounded by a comprehensive knowledge of assembly, detailing, cost and schedule.
Andrés is a regular guest critic at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been published in both architecture and construction management journals. He is a licensed Architect in States of New York and Florida, a licensed General Contractor in Florida and a LEED Accredited Professional.
