OFFICES & WAREHOUSE FACILITY
Brooklyn, NY
2008
Our Client, Uncommon Goods, an online retailer, consolidated operations, management and warehouse facilities previously held at 2 different locations into a single 54,000SF space at the Brooklyn Army Terminal. Agencie was brought on for architectural and construction services. The design responds specifically to the rigorous flow patterns between the different components of the program. Also since Uncommon Goods does 95% of its business between Thanksgiving and December 25, the shell team of 30 people increases to 250 employees working 24/7. For this reason, the design is highly flexible. In line with the company's culture, the project employs simple sustainable strategies that improve the experiential quality of the space in a responsible manner. All lighting systems are motion activated, there are 15 different HVAC zones for cooling, dozens of individually valved radiators, bike racks, shower facilities, recycled carpets, low VOC pains and adhesives and FSC certified woods.
