Healthview Terraces
Serene Outdoor Space
For healthcare professionals and patients alike, having access to a tranquil outdoor setting for relaxation and enjoying meals is of utmost importance. Agencie is currently in the process of designing a urban terrace and garden area for the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center in Queens.
Our primary goal is to create a serene outdoor space that offers a peaceful retreat for both doctors and patients. Agencie performed rigorous light and shade study was used in conjunction with on-site verification to map seasonal opportunities and constraints.
Taking inspiration from lotus leaves, Agencie has designed a series of canopies for the terraces on the 3rd and 6th floors of the Charles B. Wang Community Health Center. These gracefully designed canopies serve a dual purpose: offering shade for doctors and patients during breaks while symbolizing purity, rebirth, and strength. This design concept resonates with the core mission of CBWCHC, which is to provide high quality and affordable health care to all.
The existing building structure, which is a flat concrete slab, poses challenges for renovation. The structural team conducted an analysis of the existing building and designed detailed solutions that minimally impact the existing structure while ensuring the new canopy is secured safely and stably.
