Gucci Brookfield Flagship
Crafted Structure in Lower Manhattan
For this project, Agencie focussed the interior fit-out and exterior storefront engineering. Situated on one of the busiest streets in New York City, the high-profile nature of this work demands extreme sensitivity and diligence during the design process. A key project challenge was ensuring a focus on co-ordination with City, Brookfield Place and Battery Park City requirements. To ensure high quality standards of the specification were met we inspected glass and window frames during fabrication, conducted regular inspections onsite and assisted the contractor in resolving issues as they presented themselves.
We designed and oversaw the installation of the design for frameless windows and oversize doors. Thick solid brass plates were used to make up a sharp and neat window frame. Despite the highly bespoke design, Agencie ensured it met the high standards for high thermal and structural performance. This was achieved through detailed design through a two dimensional heat transfer model, undertaking structural calculations and studying construction details in close collaboration with the General Contractor and Curtain Wall Supplier.
Inside, the store embodies the elegance and attention to detail of Gucci. A ceiling substructure suspends the interiors, setting the stage. The installation strategy of large format pieces were coordinated through close working and collaboration with the Glass Fabricator.
