Williamsburg Rowhouse
Tranquil Modern Home
The exact build date of this historic row house is unknown, but it was somewhere between 1827 and 1845. In 1995, fire tore through the property. Many of the original interior elements, such as doors, moldings and finishes, were damaged or destroyed in a fire.
Agencie’s expertise was sought to reconfigure the house, whilst remaining respectful to the story of its past. Two, 2-bedroom duplexes were created. It had to be a home designed for modern living.
The owner’s duplex occupies the upper two floors of the house. We worked in close collaboration with the clients, an interior designer, and a furniture collector. Mid-century modern fixtures were mixed with contemporary fittings. Extensive millwork was custom fabricated. The main bedroom’s concrete floor extends into a minimalist wet room. An MTI standalone tub creates an eye-catching centerpiece.
